Ibrahim Khan Raja (Late)
Madrasah Ibrahim was a vision of Mr Ibrahim Khan Raja (Late), a British citizen who was born and brought up in the village of Tatral. Mr. Raja aspired to facilitate much needed free education for young children in Tatral and the surrounding villages. In 2004/2005 he began this noble cause and initiated the construction works for the Madrasah on his family inherited land. Unfortunately in February 2007, before completing the project, Mr Raja passed away. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (انا لله وانا اليه راجعون). After Mr Raja’s death his family continued with the project and completed the building works in 2007. The Madrasah was officially opened in 2008 and began to offer religious education and memorisation of Qur’an for young boys aged 5 years or over. Since then the Madrasah has produced many Hafidh-al-Qur’an, most of whom now provide religious education to children in the local villages. On 1 January 2012 Mr Raja’s family handed over the management of the Madrasah to Mr Raja’s son in law, Mr Fida Chaudhary, a solicitor and director of Makka Solicitors Ltd which is now one of the primary source of funding for the project.
Day-to-day running of the project was assigned to Colonel (r) Muhammad Nawaz Malik since 2012 and with the backing of Mr. Chaudhary and his company it was possible to plan more ambitious projects, some of which have already been completed whilst others have been initiated and or being discussed. Details of these projects can be found on the Projects & Achievement page of this website.
In March 2014, The Islamic Public School in Tatral was opened. The ambition was to start with the Primary School and subsequently expand by adding additional classes every year and eventually to achieve an educational institution that is able to provide free education from primary level to University level education for the village of Tatral and other surrounding villages. In March 2017 admissions for middle school began and classes began April 2017. Currently more than 200 students are studying at the school. in addition more than 30 Madrasah students doing Hifdh of the Quran . Most of the Madrasah students are full time boarders enjoying free accommodation and food during their studies.
The children studying at the Madrasah also attend classes at the Islamic Public School to to supplement their religious education with the mainstream educational curriculum at the School. Similarly students from the Public school are also able to take advantage of the religious education offered by the Madrasa.
In April 2017 we announced two further major projects, namely the Saqlain Stadium and Zaman Welfare Hospital Tatral. The foundation of the Stadium was laid by the former Test Cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq and the Hospital foundation was laid by Dr Asif Mehmood, a medical practitioner at St. Helier Hospital, Sutton, England, UK. The hospital will Inshallah provide free medical care to the people of Tatral and surrounding villages. The Saqlain Stadium is to provide sporting facilities for young aspiring sporting individuals.
